The second role is a 2-year postdoctoral position developing machine learning techniques to support marine science studies. It will be based at the Sydney Institute for Marine Science (SIMS) situated on the beautiful Sydney Harbour. It will have strong links to the University of Sydney’s ACFR but will also engage with other researchers around Australia. The focus will be on developing innovative machine learning techniques to help manage the large volumes of seafloor imaging data being collected by the IMOS AUV Facility but will also engage with other data sources, such as satellite imagery, oceanographic measurements and acoustic data.
