[robotics-worldwide] [Jobs] Jobs available in Marine Robotics at the University of Sydney's Australian Centre for Field Robotics

Stefan Williams-2
Hi All,

We have two positions available that are associated with the Marine Robotics program at the University of Sydney’s Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR).

The first position will be based at the University of Sydney and is a technical role supporting the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Facility associated with our nationally funded Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) program.  We are looking for someone with strong software development skills interested in supporting an extensive program of marine fieldwork.  Our team works at sites around Australia deploying and collecting data using AUVs to support the study of changing benthic habitats, from coral reefs in the north through kelp forests and sponge gardens in the south.  Interested applicants are referred to the following link for more details and application procedures.  The applications close July 8th, 2018.

The second role is a 2-year postdoctoral position developing machine learning techniques to support marine science studies.  It will be based at the Sydney Institute for Marine Science (SIMS) situated on the beautiful Sydney Harbour.  It will have strong links to the University of Sydney’s ACFR but will also engage with other researchers around Australia.  The focus will be on developing innovative machine learning techniques to help manage the large volumes of seafloor imaging data being collected by the IMOS AUV Facility but will also engage with other data sources, such as satellite imagery, oceanographic measurements and acoustic data.  Interested applicants are referred to the attached pdf for application details.  The applications close June 30th, 2018.

Should you have any questions about these positions, please do not hesitate to let me know.  Please pass on to anyone who might be interested in joining us here in Sydney.
