The postdoctoral scholar will support research-efforts surrounding our open-architecture, open-interface, and open-source-software based research instrument comprising: (a) Hardware-in-the-loop validation on a full-scale vehicle retrofitted with advanced sensing, drive-by-wire, perception, connectivity, computation (ROS/Autoware), and control modules; coupled with (b) Augmented reality Simulation- based-Design (SBD) of hardware (e.g. sensor-suites) and software (e.g. algorithms) for a range of Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) applications. Multiple graduate and undergraduate students work in the group, and there is good collaboration with industrial partners.
Required qualifications include: a recent PhD in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a related field), experience in robotics (theory and/or application), with ROS/Autoware/C/C++/Java/Python and excellent oral and written communication skills. Prior experience with system-deployment efforts surrounding collaborative robotics, autonomous vehicles, control systems and Big Data and/or Cloud Computing would be a significant plus.
