[robotics-worldwide] [Meetings] Abstract DL April 8th: REMINDER: Call for Participation: ICRA 2018 Workshop on Reproducible Research in Robotics: the IEEE Robotics &Automation Magazine R-papers in Brisbane, Australia, May 21st 2018

Fabio Bonsignorio-3
apologies for multiple postings

Dear all,

this is a kind reminder that you are invited to  submit to ICRA 2018
workshop on Reproducible Research in Robotics: the IEEE Robotics
&AutomationMagazine R-papers and that the abstract submission DL is in a
few days.

In Robotics research the replicability and reproducibility of results  and
their  objective     evaluation and comparison has so far been lacking.
This situation impairs both research progress and research result
exploitation. However, the community has been aware of the issue for a long
time and significant progress has recently been made in this area. In the
September 2015 Robotics and Automation Magazine (RAM) special issue authors
were asked to provide reproducible experiments (allowing a large degree of
freedom about how to define reproducibility and good reporting format).
That special issue had a large number of submissions covering almost every
area in robotics. Starting in September 2017, RAM started to accept
R-Articles (where ‘R’ stands for Reproducible). This workshop aims to
discuss in detail the requisites of reproducible experiments in Robotics
and their reporting, in order to improve the existing process. To make the
discussion concrete we ask the prospective contributors to submit practical
examples of reproducible papers that will be published as R-articles on the
IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine.

Confirmed Invited speakers: Peter Corke (QUT, Australia), Bram Vanderborght
(VUB, Belgium), Davide Scaramuzza (University of Zurich, Switzerland), Amit
Kumar Pandey (SoftBank Robotics, France), Stefano Carpin (University of
California Merced, Olivier Michel (Skype, Cyberbotics, Switzzerland), Signe
Redfield (office of Naval Research, USA) and myself.

Important dates:
Submission of abstracts:    April 8th
Notification of acceptance: April 11th
Workshop date:                  May 21st

Abstract Format: 1 to 3 pages in ICRA conference format.

As told above, starting from September 2017 for the first time ever for a
top-tier publishing venue in Robotics, the IEEE R&A Magazine solicits and
accepts Reproducible Experiment Articles, see my article here:
