[robotics-worldwide] Second call for papers: Special issue on "Advances in Vision for Autonomous Robots" in JR

Arnau Ramisa
Dear All,

we are pleased to announce the second call for papers for a Special
Issue on "Advances in Vision for Autonomous Robots" to be published in
Journal of Robotics. You are encouraged to submit your recent results to
this special issue. For details, please see the call for papers below:

Apologies for multiple postings.

Second Call for Papers
JOURNAL OF ROBOTICS: "Advances in Vision for Autonomous Robots"

Visible light cameras have a number of advantages for robotics research.
They are low cost, high resolution, passive, and suitable both for
indoor and outdoor environments. However, sophisticated algorithms are
necessary to leverage the information contained in the high-dimensional
and noisy image data. Computer vision research has addressed this
problem for a long time, while its findings are still boosting the
development of new, useful methods for robot perception.

The main focus of this special issue will be on advances in computer
vision and its integration to robotics, with special emphasis on
high-level perception tasks in human environments. Potential topics
include, but are not limited to:

     * Visual navigation
     * Visual tracking
     * Visual place recognition
     * Visual SLAM
     * Vision-based object recognition
     * Robot vision applications
     * Fusion of vision with other sensor modalities
     * Multi-view vision for robots

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's
Author Guidelines, which are located at

Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete
manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at
