[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] - 1 PhD position in Social Robotics

Expressions of interest in applying for a PhD position in the exciting
area of Social Robots are welcome
at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal.

The successful candidate will be developing work focused on, but not
limited to, the design,

development, and implementation of models for social environments
suitable for robotics applications

and the control of social robots. The work builds upon research
developed within the former European

Project Monarch (www.monarch-fp7.eu).


It is expected that candidates  have a solid background in,
     (i) General Robotics,

    (ii) Matlab, C/C++, Python, ROS framework,

and a strong motivation to explore areas such as

     (i) Machine learning techniques and classification, supervised and
non-supervised,
     (ii) Nonlinear dynamic systems and control,
     (iii) Sensor technologies and their usage, namely laser range
finder, kinect-like (RGB-D) devices, ultrasound, RFID, and autoomaticc
speech recognition and text-to-speech

The grant includes monthly allowance of 980€ plus  insurance and social
contributions and tuition fees.
