Ferdinando Cannella
4 PhD positions have opened by the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and University of Bergamo. The overall theme is the Robotics compliant to the Industry 4.0 and the topics will span from manipulation to collaboration, from the inspection to the cyber security. The positions are fully funded, start in November 2018 and typically last 3 years.
The Advanced Industrial Automation Lab (AIAL) within the Advanced Robotics Department (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.iit.it_research_lines_advanced-2Drobotics&d=DwIFAg&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=au2b55qSDMg04LmecaESQOmJqTxUYMaf-8E94AwSH-E&s=X3brUMkiNxDnoYLvWxsQTyRry4fjoQhs05kIC8ipvZg&e=) at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is looking for highly motivated candidates with expertise in robotics or mechatronics or software engineering or equivalent. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work in an exciting and young environment, in close interaction with research technicians, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers of both the University of Bergamo and Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia.
In the spirit of the doctoral in Robotics, the PhD Program provides interdisciplinary training at the interface between technology and industries. The general objective of the program is to form scientists and research technologists capable of working in multidisciplinary teams on projects where development and design are addressed to the transfer technology. Robotics and industries in AIAL share, as a fundamental scientific objective, the study of new devices for manipulation, inspection&maintenance, grasping, etc.
Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is an English speaking and a non-profit institution with the primary goal of creating and disseminating scientific knowledge and strengthening Italy's technological competitiveness. The institute offers state-of-the-art equipment and a top-level interdisciplinary research environment focused on robotics and computer vision, neuroscience, drug discovery, nanoscience and technology.
