*Job description*

KUKA Austin is seeking a talented, high-performing and motivated individual
to develop cloud simulation software for industrial robotics. An interest
in robotics is a definite must.

An ideal candidate will blend cloud software experience with robotics and
simulation and have deep technical knowledge on robotics, motion planning,
simulation, and physics.

If you have a history of designing, owning and shipping software, as well
as excellent communication and collaboration skills, then we want to talk
to you. You should have a solid understanding of the software development
cycle, from architecture to testing and deployment. You’ll have a passion
for quality and be a creative thinker. You’ll write secure, reliable,
scalable, and maintainable code, and then effectively debug it, test it and
support it live. You should be comfortable owning a feature and making
decisions independently.

Basic Qualifications:


   Background  in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering

   5+ years of software development experience

   Development experience in

      Linux and Windows

      Scala, Java, C/C++, C#, or similar languages

      AWS and/or Google Cloud

      Relational databases (Cassandra)

      Streaming platforms (Kafka)

      Cloud tools (Kubernetes, Docker)

      Multithreading, networking

   High level of energy and motivation

   Knowledge and practical experience with agile software development on a
   lean software development team that has delivered commercial software or
   software-based services

   Excellent written and communication skills and ability to work in a
   cross-functional environment; experience with technical documentation and
   clearly documenting code that you have written

   Experience and excitement to mentor more junior engineers and help them
   develop their skills and leadership abilities

   Experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable and highly
   available systems

   Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership to other

   Research experience and publications in the field of robotics,
   simulations, controls are a plus

Preferred Qualifications:


   Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

   Game development or game engine development experience

   Experience and knowledge in controlling and integrating robots

   CAD modeling software and robot configuration  (e.g., SolidWorks)


   Experience with safety critical systems

   Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

   Thorough knowledge and practical application of object-oriented
   modeling, design, and development.

   Experience developing simulation software



   Collaborate with product management team to implement vision

   Tackle challenging development tasks in:

      Robot simulation

      Cloud services for robotic applications

   Stay current on emerging technologies in those areas to help drive an
   advanced architecture

   Grow technically under the mentorship of experienced leadership team

   Mentor junior developers to help develop skills and leadership abilities
