Job Description
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University
of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for one Tenure-Track Assistant
Professor Faculty position in Robotics starting July 1, 2020. The new
faculty member will help the CSE department expand their program in robotics
into advanced manufacturing. Areas of highest interest include but are not
limited to: learning and adaptive control for manipulation, robust robot
autonomy, and multi agent human-robot teams.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
or related fields by July 1, 2020.

Preferred Qualifications
In addition, applicants must be strongly committed to excellence in
research, teaching and service. We expect that candidates for this position
will demonstrate potential for developing robust externally funded research
programs. They will be expected to supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students and
participate in service and outreach.

Department Information
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is dynamic and is rapidly
expanding with fourteen positions added in the last five years and more will
be added in upcoming years. The Department has several faculty with NSF
CAREER awards and faculty who play lead roles on multiple state-wide and
national, multi-million dollar NSF awards. Apart from NSF, research in the
department is also supported by DoD, DHS and NASA, and by companies such as
Google, Microsoft, AT&T, Nokia and Tesla; with strong research and education
programs in (1) Cybersecurity and Network Systems, (2) Intelligent and
Autonomous Systems and (3) Data and Software Systems. The department’s
average annual research expenditures was $2.8M over the last three years.
According to csrankings.org our department ranks #18th in the area robotics
in the US. The department currently offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in
computer science and engineering; minors and a graduate certificate in
Cybersecurity; minor in digital interactive games; and a minor in unmanned
autonomous systems. We expect strong growth in research funding and student

Thanks to substantial growth in both student enrollment and tenure-track
faculty positions, the College of Engineering is constructing a new
