University of Maryland seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer starting June
2019. The position will have full-time teaching responsibilities central to
the Robotics Master of Engineering Program

courses (possibly with associated labs) per year.

We seek applicants who will create a climate that embraces excellence and
diversity, with a strong commitment to teaching, hands-on learning,
mentoring and active engagement with the students. The ideal candidate
should have strong background in one or more of the following areas:
autonomous systems, robot control and modeling, perception and planning,
and AI/ML. The candidate is expected to incorporate creative approaches to
teaching that enhance the student learning experience, help assist students
in the use of lab equipment, as well as be committed to advising and
service. Courses are taught in on-campus and remote site formats, and may
be expanded to online in the future.

Applicants must have a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or a related
field, and classroom teaching experience with proven excellence designing
and teaching a variety of robotics-related courses. Selected candidates
will be expected to demonstrate interest in and potential for outstanding
teaching and ability to innovate and adopt various teaching methods in the
classroom and labs. Applicants must be currently eligible to work in the
United States.

As per current guidelines, lecturers are appointed to a 1-year term, with
the intention of renewal with demonstrated successful performance.
Applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented on
engineering faculties are encouraged to apply.
