2nd Call for Fully Funded PhD Positions for Legged Robot Control: Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT)

There are several fully funded PhD positions, jointly offered by the University of Genoa and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Italian Institute of Technology, IIT).



I am particularly seeking highly motivated applicants to the following two subjects (Theme 8 and Theme 11):

* Theme 8. Legged Robot Control: Whole-body Falling-over Recovery Control for Humanoids

   - whole-body sensing algorithm using proprioceptive sensors (e.g., joint torque sensors, encoders and IMU) and exteroception (e.g., force-torque sensors and stereo vision), and

  - motion planning and control for recovering action of the entire body using robust dynamic control schemes.

* Theme 11. Robot Interaction Control: Whole-body Multiple Contact Physical Interaction Control of a Hybrid Legged/Wheeled Robot Platform

   - dynamic whole-body control strategy of the hybrid robotic platform to guarantee agile responses and high dexterity to cope with multi contacts of the dual arm and four legs and the high kinematic redundancy.

Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genova, Italy is an English language institute; international applications are encouraged and will receive support with visa issues, etc. The Advanced Robotics (ADVR) Research Line offers state-of-the-art robot platforms and a top-level interdisciplinary research environment focused on robotics.

The successful applicant will be fully funded for three years phD course on the focused research theme.
