[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] Funded PhD Positions in Autonomous Navigation/Perception and Multi-Robot Systems at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (Zhuoyuan Song)

Zhuoyuan Song-2
There are several PhD positions available immediately for enthusiastic individuals in the Robot Autonomy and Navigation Lab (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www2.hawaii.edu_-7Ezsong&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=HosCnyFUTCiAHTr8WC_GfE3RO93bN0ovU9KnprAI4LE&s=M8OwxcFQuBIs4c_0d_No52C7bEg6KTC5ARh-uay1mU0&e=) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. We are looking for self-motivated researchers to work in areas including marine/aerial/ground robotics, autonomous navigation, and multi-robot systems. Desired candidates should have both strong background in theoretical analysis and hands-on experience in robot prototyping and testing. Successful applicants will work on one or more of the following research topics:

Topic 1: Robot Localization
We are interested in novel navigation/localization solutions that help enhance the capabilities of mobile robots in large-scale environmental sensing missions. We address the critical issue of GPS-denied localization in long-term missions and the associated environmental sensing problems. Focus areas include concurrent navigation and sensing, long-term autonomy, sensor fusion, dynamics learning, etc.

Topic 2:  Multi-robot System
We are also interested in the modeling and decentralized control of multi-robot systems. Focus areas include the coordination of multi-robot systems under the influence of strong geophysical circulations, human-swarm interaction, and swarm security and privacy.

How to apply:
A single PDF file containing:
(1) Cover letter
(2) CV/Resume with GPA
(3) Name and contact information of two academic references
For full consideration, applications should be sent by Nov 30, 2018 to: Prof. Zhuoyuan Song ([hidden email]) with the subject “[PhD Student] <Your Name> 2018”
