College of Engineering
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign has several faculty openings in robotics and autonomy
across multiple departments (CS, ECE, MechSE, and Aero). All faculty
ranks are being considered, and named positions are available for
exceptional senior candidates. This hiring is the first year of a
College-wide coordinated initiative in robotics, which is planned to be
expanded in subsequent years, involving also other departments. Both
the University and College are prioritizing this large-scale expansion
in the robotics and autonomy area, which also includes significant
resources committed to research infrastructure and education, starting
with the recently launched Center for Autonomy.
The College of Engineering at Illinois is one of the largest and most
respected in the country, and is home to 15 degree programs ranked in
the Top 5 by the U.S. News & World Report. The College's core is its
distinguished faculty, including Nobel laureates and recipients of the
National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology, and
members and leaders within the American Academy of Arts and Sciences,
the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of
Engineering. The College has over 400 tenured and tenure-track faculty,
many of whom hold joint appointments with two or more academic
departments and also appointments in research institutes and
laboratories. The College educates approximately 9,000 undergraduates
