The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California has multiple openings for post-doc in the broad area of robotic autonomy (including mobility, perception, single- and multi-agent autonomy, and communication). The focus is on small and autonomous flying vehicles and rotorcrafts. These positions will support basic and applied research projects funded by a variety of sources. Details can be tailored to some degree to the experience and interest of selected applicants. Some of the projects include:

  1.  Aerial and ground autonomy for exploring caves and subterranean environments in planetary bodies

Some of openings are for joint post-doc positions between JPL and partnering schools (MIT, Caltech, and Stanford). The positions are available immediately. Positions are for one year with potential extension up to three years.



Candidates can apply to open positions in one (or more) of the following areas:

  1.  Algorithms (requires strong background in robotic perception, localization, 3D mapping, planning, or multi-agent communication)
  2.  Software (requires strong software development skills, feel at home working with C++ and ROS)
  3.  System (requires background in system engineering, integration, and embedded computing)
