The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno
(UNR) invites application for multiple Ph.D. and visiting student/scholar
positions in areas of robotics and control starting in 2019 Spring or 2019
Fall. Fully financial support of research assistantship will be provided
for Ph.D. students.

2018 Fall. Projects will be relevant to the development and analysis of
novel artificial muscles for autonomous soft robots and assistive robots.
Successful candidates should be highly self-motivated to pursue independent
and interdisciplinary research. Background in one or more of the following
areas is desirable: controls, robotics, smart materials, and artificial
muscles. Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and micro-controllers

National Park, the Black Rock Desert, Sacramento and Napa/Sonoma are all
within driving distance. The Reno metropolitan area has a population of
425,000, and is served by an international airport.
