[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] Post-doc positions in surgical robotics and robotic endoscopy for global health
My Lab in the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds is looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with interest in surgical robotics for global health.
The research activity is part of a major UK EPSRC Global Challenge Research Fund grant to the STORM Lab aiming to optimize, assess, and validate an ultra-low-cost gastrointestinal endoscopy system to enable gastroesophageal cancer screening in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). This platform won the 2016 edition of the Surgical Robot Challenge 2016 organized at the Hamlyn Symposium of Medical Robotics in London, UK. A paper on this platform has recently appeared on the IEEE RAS Magazine. Our focus in moving forward is to improve design and control aspects of the platform and perform field trials in rural and underdeveloped areas of China where gastroesophageal cancer has a very high incidence and mortality rate. The post-doctoral fellow will be integrated in a team and will also be able to pursue his/her own creative ideas.
