Postdoctoral researcher in semantic perception
Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS)
Örebro University, Sweden
The Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS) at Örebro University, Sweden is looking to employ a postdoctoral researcher in computer science, with a focus on machine learning for semantic perception in mobile robotics. The position is for a one-year work contract with an internationally competitive salary and full social security benefits. We offer you the opportunity to make the first steps of your independent research career: work on an exciting and practically relevant problem alongside an ambitious international research team and in close cooperation with industrial partners.
The deadline for the application is January 15th.
About the position:
The postdoctoral post is associated with the nationally funded collaborative project Semantic Robots [https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__semanticrobots.aass.oru.se&d=DwIFAw&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=Rwkj3TQvHxYX_Zp9H9cXbzHS2jZTLz2XcU-hF_CRo58&s=Ptceoi6fFkX0M_tv9Oo0XXt6pf7yonn9j8gQhVLMUIU&e=]. The position will involve collaboration with industrial partners (Husqvarna, Volvo, Atlas Copco, Kollmorgen Automation among others), as well as work in a scientific research team at AASS. Duties of the researcher will involve the design, selection, implementation, and evaluation of machine learning approaches for various perception related problems, such as pose estimation, scene understanding, and object detection and recognition. Additional responsibilities will include travel to partner sites and data collection.
* A completed PhD degree in computer science, robotics, or a related discipline. The degree should have been attained within the past three years (time spent on parental leave and civil service can be deducted).
* Solid theoretical background in state-of-the-art machine learning techniques.
* Prior experience in applying machine learning techniques to real world problems, preferably in the context of computer vision.
* Excellent programming skills and preferably good knowledge of C++ and ROS.
* Experience in collaborative projects is a plus.
About the work environment:
The Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS), located in the city of Örebro in central Sweden, carries out multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, computer science, and measurement technology. AASS is internationally renowned for its research in mobile robotics, cognitive robotic systems, robot ecologies, and artificial olfaction.
