The PRISMA Lab at the University of Naples Federico II is seeking to
recruit senior postdoctoral research fellows that will have a key
research role in the following area: Visual Servoing and Automatic
Control especially focused on Aerial and Mobile Robots. The successful
candidates will conduct their research at the PRISMA Lab on the European
Research project HYFLIERS on the following themes: autonomous landing of
VToL vehicles on pipes in a refinery; autonomous navigation of pipes
with hybrid drones with omnidirectional, articulated wheels;
visual-force control of an hyper-redundant cable-driven robot arm.

innovation action of EU Horizon 2020 programme for advanced robot
capabilities research and take-up, worth 3,9 million euro funding.
HYFLIERS, running from 2018 to 2021, will develop the world's first
industrial integrated robot with hybrid air and ground mobility with a
long-reach hyper-redundant manipulator capable of reaching sites where
no other robot can access, reducing the exposition of human inspectors
to potentially dangerous working conditions. Targeting ultrasonic
thickness measurements for oil and gas refineries and chemical plants,
the results could be applied to many other robotic inspection technologies.

We are looking for highly-motivated young scientists with a background
and PhD in automatic control and/or robotics, preferably with at least
two years of experience abroad, and a well-established publication
record among these respective areas:
   - Visual servoing
   - Modeling and control of UAV/mobile robots
   - Piecewise-smooth, hybrid and impacting dynamic systems
Strong competencies in C/C++/ROS programming and MATLAB are essential.
Qualified potential applicants holding a PhD degree should provide the

University of Naples Federico II is the third oldest university in Italy
and the oldest public university in Europe. The School of Engineering,

*Salary and Duration*
The positions are full time and will be paid according to the current
Italian scheme. Salary will be determined depending on the level of
experience and research seniority of the individual candidate.
