Applications are invited for a postdoctoral associate position to work on
an NSF-sponsored interdisciplinary project that aims to develop novel
approaches for aerial robot navigation in natural environments inspired by
the biosonar of bats. The duties of the postdoctoral associate include
developing large-scale simulation and novel robotic algorithms to enable
biosonar-inspired sensing and navigation. Specific research tasks include
methods and algorithm development, environmental and echo data simulation,

The Postdoctoral Associate will be primarily supervised by Dr. Hongxiao Zhu
(Department of Statistics) but will work closely with other key
investigators, including Drs. Rolf Mueller (Mechanical Engineering), Pratap
Tokekar (Electrical and Computer Engineering), Xiaowei Wu (Statistics), and

Prospective applicants should have:

   - A Ph.D. degree in computer science, computer engineering, statistics
   or a related discipline with focus on one or more of the following areas:
   high-performance computing, large-scale simulation, machine learning,
   computer graphics, artificial intelligence, robotic algorithms.
   - Extensive experience in coding with MATLAB or Python/R and low-level
   programming languages in C/C++ or equivalent.
   - Skills in parallel computing and GPU-based computing.

A good mathematical/statistical background and expertise in machine
learning methods are highly preferred.
