[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] Postdoctoral Fellow in Semi-Autonomous Robotic Trauma Surgery at the University of Maryland

Axel Krieger
Postdoctoral Fellow in Semi-Autonomous Robotic Trauma Surgery at the
University of Maryland

The Maryland Robotics Center at the University of Maryland, Clark School
of Engineering, in College Park MD, invites applications for a funded
Postdoctoral Fellow position in the area of medical robotics, in
particular in assisted and autonomous robotic trauma surgery. The post-doc
candidate will work on prediction and sparsity based compressed sensing to
facilitate communication and control in remote locations. This will be
critical in enabling robust communications to enable transmission of
images, vitals, and for performing semi-autonomous control, especially
under challenging network conditions. The post-doc will be co-advised by
Dr. Nikhil Chopra and Dr. Axel Krieger.

Dr. Krieger and Dr. Chopra are looking for bright, enthusiastic, and
skilled candidates with PhD degree in computer science, mechanical
engineering, electrical engineering, or similar engineering background,
preferably with extensive experience in robotics, network analytics,
compressed sensing, C++ programming, embedded software design, ROS
programming, robotic simulations rviz/Gazebo, and in the use of KUKA or
similar robots manipulation.

This funded Postdoctoral Fellow position is for a minimum of one year and
can be extended up to three years. The position is open until filled with
applications received on or before May 25th, 2018 receiving full
consideration. Applicants willing to start immediately are preferred.
Valid US work authorization is required. To apply for this position,
