[robotics-worldwide] [jobs] Presidential Fellowships - Robotics, Machine Learning and AI - University of Manchester UK

Angelo Cangelosi-2
This email is of interest to people looking for a senior postdoc (leading to permanent academic contract) in robotics, AI and Machine Learning.

The University of Manchester is inviting applications for several Presidential Fellowships, as part of a significant investment in new talents.

These fellowships are open to early career academics who can deliver world-leading research and teaching, and become the inspiring leaders of the future. These are 4-year posts that will lead to permanent academic contracts, subject to evaluation of satisfactory performance.

One of the priority areas of these fellowships concerns robotics, AI, machine learning and human factors. See below for more details on the fellowship positions and priority areas.

If you are interested in this opportunity and you have a research track record in robotics and AI, feel free to contact Angelo Cangelosi ([hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>), new professor of Machine Learning and Robotics at the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester from August 2018, or Robert Stevens ([hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>), the Head of the School of Computer Science.

As part of my new Chair in Machine Learning and Robotics at the University of Manchester (which starts in August), the University has invested in a state of the art cognitive robotics lab, with access to multiple platforms (e.g. iCub, Pepper, Sawyer, Giraff) and a RobotHome living lab for human-robot interaction experiments. This will also offer opportunities for close collaboration with colleagues in neuromorphic engineering (Steve Furber), machine learning and optimisation (Gavin Brown) and robotics for nuclear decommissioning (Barry Lennox).

Link to info for application details (deadline 3 April 2018)
