The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Soft Robotics and Haptics in the area of surgical robotics. The successful applicant will be joining the growing Soft Haptics and Robotics Lab at University College London - a world-leading university with strong interdisciplinary research. The position is available from now and funded for two years in the first instance. The Research Fellow will design, model, fabricate and validate a soft, stiffness-controllable haptic feedback actuator which will be integrated into the da Vinci Research Kit.
The successful candidate must have a good first degree (2:1 UK equivalent or above), a PhD in electrical/mechanical engineering, computer science or robotics and have sufficient experience in soft robotics and/or haptics to demonstrate that they have generated and executed independent and collaborative research at an internationally-leading level. Candidates must have a good track record of recently and continuously publishing their work in research journals and undertaken some supervisory roles in a research laboratory.
