The Mobile Robotics and Olfaction (MR&O) lab at the centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS), Örebro University is looking for a masters degree graduate or a Ph.D. student for a 5-month internship for a project related to the integration of gas-sensitive nano-UAVs and stationary sensors. The project will explore the use of a heterogeneous environmental monitoring system (mobile and stationary sensors) for the task of indoor pollution mapping.

The ideal candidate should have a Masters degree or be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in computer science or related fields. Also, the ideal candidate should have a strong interest in this particular project. The skills that are advantageous for the position are as follows:
- Excellent programming skills: Matlab, C/C++ and Python are a must
- English proficiency (written and spoken)
- Previous experience with nano-UAVs is a plus
- Basic knowledge on machine learning and/or sensor planning
- Basic knowledge on electric circuit design

The Mobile Robotics & Olfaction Lab is one of three research groups within AASS. Our research is recognized world-wide with its focus generally on the development of perception systems for mobile robots. The goal is to advance the theoretical and practical foundations that allow mobile robots to operate in an unconstrained, dynamic environment. The approaches that we develop address real-world needs and are typically characterized by fusion of different sensor modalities. Where possible the results of our research work are timely integrated in industrial demonstrators. Major directions are mobile Robot Olfaction, Robot Vision, Rich 3D Perception, and Robots for Intra-Logistic Applications.
