The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) invites applications for two tenure-system faculty positions in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Applications will be considered in the general area of advanced manufacturing, including manufacturing automation.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is among the fastest growing programs at UTD. The department offers ABET-accredited BS, as well as MS and PhD degree programs in mechanical engineering. The department was founded in 2008 and currently has 1185 students enrolled, including 196 graduate students. There are 27 tenured-system faculty members and 7 teaching faculty members. Annual research expenditures exceed $5 million. The junior faculty members are highly decorated and include three NSF CAREER awardees, five Young Investigator Program awardees from DoD, and one awardee of the NIH Director's Program. In fall 2018, the department will be housed in a brand new building with 200,000 square feet for teaching and research.
