Call for Papers – Special Issue on Robot Learning – Beyond Imitation

With its motto of “Science for Robotics and Robotics for Science,” Science Robotics
(https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__robotics.sciencemag.org_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=JiG9EmPxXVM0WNEHqTPUafZPW9Jbe1_oPeiHYdNh0uo&s=Ixc_5Kq5sGpogaCtJv-KjxxjDQxDmxfqd6fjXQWjINw&e=) was launched to cover the most significant advances in robots and
their applications. The journal addresses both theoretical advances as well as practical
applications of robotics. It promotes communication of new ideas, general principles, and original
developments in robotics research and field applications, bearing the quality hallmark of the
Science family of journals.

We are delighted to announce a special issue on robot learning, a broad field which is deeply rooted
into fundamental techniques of machine learning and human robot interaction.  We are looking for
high-quality, original research papers from all areas of research and development in robot learning,
from studies of embodied agents and purely algorithmic results to complete systems demonstrating
practical deployments and seamless human-robot interaction and knowledge acquisition. We are also
looking for short Focus articles to provide snapshots of research for a wider audience.

Presubmission inquiries and expressions of interest should be sent to [hidden email]. We
request that all expressions of interest include article title, author list and affiliations, and
abstract (<200 words). Expressions of interest for reviews and research articles should also include
a brief outline.

More details on information for authors as well as current and past issues of Science Robotics can
be found at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__robotics.sciencemag.org_&d=DwIFaQ&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=JiG9EmPxXVM0WNEHqTPUafZPW9Jbe1_oPeiHYdNh0uo&s=Ixc_5Kq5sGpogaCtJv-KjxxjDQxDmxfqd6fjXQWjINw&e=.

Key dates:
•    Deadline for expressions of interest: 16 July 2018
•    Deadline for submission of original research articles: 20 August 2018
•    Expected publication of the special issue: Fall 2018
