Special Issue on Underwater Robotics
Published in Robotics, an Open Access Journal by MPDI
We invite you to contribute to a new special issue on the topic of Underwater Robotics, to be published in the journal Robotics.
Robotics has long established itself as the key technology for the exploration and exploitation of the underwater environment and of other activities that are performed under the sea surface. The richness of resources in the underwater environment and its intrinsic hostility motivate and challenge science and technology to conceive and construct ever more efficient robotic tools and techniques.
In particular, there is a great demand for increasing the functional and behavioral autonomy of underwater robots; facilitating human/machine interaction; reducing costs, and increasing safety, reliability and efficiency. This Special Issue will highlight challenges and needs and will provide visibility for recent breakthroughs.
In relation to underwater robotics, topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Vehicles and drones
Swarm of heterogeneous robotic agents
Robotic sensing and communication
Decision support and safe operation
Educational and recreational robotics
Submissions can be made until September 30, 2019 (see the call for paper at
