* Call for Participation and Late Breaking Reports *
* 15th IEEE International Symposium on Safety, Security, and Rescue
Robotics 2017 (SSRR 2017) *
* in Shanghai, China; October 11 - 13, 2017 *
Due to popular demand the due date for the Late Breaking Report
submission has been pushed to September 1st!
=== CfP ===
SSRR is inviting cutting-edge papers in the theory and practice of
robotics and automation for all types of safety, security, and rescue
applications such as disaster response, mitigation and recovery; rapid
and secure inspection of critical infrastructure; detection of chemical,
biological and radiological risks, and operations in these dangerous sites.
Submissions of original papers focused on traditional and emerging areas
and applications in safety, security, and rescue robotics are
encouraged. All papers will appear in IEEE Xplore. Nominated
contributions for "Best Paper" and "Best Student Paper" awards and other
outstanding papers that report field experiments will be considered for
a special issue of the Journal of Field Robotics. Late-breaking-reports
will be also considered and included in the program. Submission
guidelines will be found in the SSRR website.
The conference is hosted by the School of Information Science and
Technology (SIST) of ShanghaiTech University and the ShanghaiTech
Automation and Robotics Center (STAR Center). The research university
was founded in 2013 and is aiming to be a leading institution in China
and the world by creating a unique open and free academic environment
which will serve as the cradle that trains future scientists, engineers,
entrepreneurs, and industrial leaders in information sciences and
technologies to play key roles in the ongoing economic transformation of
China and the world. The conference will be held in the brand-new campus
in the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park of Pudong, Shanghai.
=== Important Dates ===
LBR submission: Sep 1
LBR acceptance: Sep 5
Final papers due: September 1
Final LBR due: Sep 9
Conference: October 11-13
=== Call for Demos ===
Robot Demonstrations related to the SSRR theme are very welcome. Please
submit a one page description of how your system will be compelling for
safety, security, or rescue robot developers and users. Images and video
of the demo are encouraged. Please send an email to
[hidden email] .
=== Call for Competition Participation ===
There will also be a small competition held in parallel to SSRR 2017.
The main goal here is to have some rescue robots running around and to
demonstrate their capabilities in a live arena. The arena will be
composed out of a few selected standard robot test elements. The
elements will be at the 60cm scale, that is half the width of a standard
RoboCup Rescue arena. See the website for more details and links. Any
ground robot that fits in the arena is welcome - please contact Sören
Schwetfeger ([hidden email]) for details and if you want
