[robotics-worldwide] [meetings][Eurohaptics 2018] Call for Hands-on-demos - Deadline extension announcement

Antonio Frisoli-2

-apologies for multiple posting-

Dear colleagues,

following numerous requests, the deadline for hands-on-demos submissions
of EUROHAPTICS 2018 has been extended to *April 27, 2018, anywhere on

*Please consider that all hands-on demo submitted by April 8, 2018 will
receive notification of acceptance by April 10, so that authors will be
able to register with early registration rate. *

Eurohaptics 2018 will feature several sessions devoted to live
demonstrations of innovative haptic research, technology and
applications. Each proposal must include a short abstract of
approximately 100 words and an image to describe the demonstration.
Inclusion of hyperlink to a demonstration video clip is highly encouraged.
Please also include a mock-up image to be used for space planning and a
list of technical requirements (number of tables, power requirements
including number of sockets, etc.).

To propose a demonstration, please fill the form available here
(MAX 5MB) and submit to hands-on-demos chairs at

*-- About EUROHAPTICS 2018 --*

Eurohaptics 2018 conference will be held in Pisa, Italy, on June 13-16,
2018. It will provide researchers from academia and industry with an
opportunity to present ideas and establish contacts with other haptics
researchers from around the world.  The conference will be held at
Palazzo dei Congressi di Pisa (Pisa Congress Palace).

Eurohaptics 2018 will cover all aspects of haptics, including
neuroscience, psychophysics, perception, engineering, computing,
interactions, virtual reality and the arts. We welcome papers across a
wide range of topics in fundamental science and engineering, as well as
end-application in areas such as medical and surgical simulation, skills
training, rehabilitation robotics, collaborative human-robot
interactions, communication and haptic feedback for design and the arts.
Eurohaptics 2018 is part of the activities taking place under the
auspices of the Eurohaptics Society.

The conference will provide researchers from academia and industry an
opportunity to present new ideas and establish contacts with colleagues
from around the world. An important part of the conference will be the
opportunity to demonstrate and experience new haptic hardware and
software, and discuss ideas with researchers and developers to gain
information about the latest haptic research. Proceedings of Eurohaptics
2018 will be published in Lecture notes in Computer Science by Springer.

We expect to have a brilliant program featuring:

  * 4 plenary speakers
  * 4 workshops
  * the Ultrahaptics Student Challenge
  * 40 oral presentations
  * 56 posters presentations
  * about 50-60 Work In Progress presentations (still under review)
  * hands on demo sessions
  * 1 special session on Development Kits for Haptics
  * a beautiful and fascinating historical city festival "the Luminara"

    June 16th

The conference will be held at Palazzo dei Congressi di Pisa (Pisa
Congress Palace), in the city center of Pisa, one of the most beautiful
cities in Tuscany, Italy. Featuring a very long history, Pisa offers a a
number of famous art and historical sites such as the Leaning Tower or
Piazza dei Cavalieri. Well connected with a broad range of domestic and
international locations thanks to the city airport (10 mins from the
conference venue), Pisa is also exploitable by walking through its
marvellous streets and Arno riverside.(https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__eurohaptics2018.org_venue_&d=DwIDbA&c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&r=0w3solp5fswiyWF2RL6rSs8MCeFamFEPafDTOhgTfYI&m=sDG3FniMctBADbbn381kZospdwIq1WDmLZHIFYvIEik&s=Sh8sU1F7KRBSdQY3aby4L-TdC-L5eH-mtKtS9lFVuQg&e=).
