[robotics-worldwide] [meetings] IPAS’2018 14-16 January, 2018, Chamonix, France (David Branson)
Dear colleagues and friends
The 8th International Precision Assembly Seminar IPASÂ’2018 will be held in Chamonix, France, from 14 to 16 January 2018.
The Seminar will continue the tradition of bringing together the international research and industrial communities in precision assembly processes and systems. The 8th edition of the seminar will have a specific focus on informatics and digital technologies for precision assembly. This includes research in areas such as robotics and automation, metrology, data analytics and other topics.
Papers are invited in but are not limited to the following thematic areas:
Robotics and robot applications for assembly
Metrology assisted large scale assembly
Design for assembly and disassembly
Control methods for precision assembly
Product key characteristics and tolerances in assembly
Design of assembly systems
Assembly actuators and sensors
Precision joining operations
Variability and uncertainty in assembly
Data analytics for product and process monitoring
Standardisation for precision assembly including grippers, handling, tooling and application software
Processes and systems for disassembly
Distributed and collaborative networks in assembly
Metrology and quality control
Parts sorting and feeding
Novel system integration approaches/techniques
Connected assembly equipment and systems utilising the IIoT
Industrial applications in different sectors including aerospace and defence, automotive, packaging and MEMS.
Originally conceived by the micro-assembly community, the seminar has now grown to include a wide scope of assembly processes and applications from micro products to large aerostructures where precision, efficiency and quality are of critical importance. The seminar will be held in the Majestic Conference Centre, a magnificent venue, originally built as a grand hotel at the beginning of the last century which is now a very well-equipped conference centre, preserving its traditional luxury atmosphere.
